Overview
This article explains how to override a finding in Hyver.
Unlike renaming, overriding replaces all finding data (except customer-specific elements like tags or evidence) with the content from another selected finding. It’s a powerful action used to correct or unify findings across templates or engagements.
What overriding does:
Overrides the entire finding template — including title, summary, severity, risk level, mitigation steps, and classification.
Excludes customer-specific data like:
Tags
Comments
Supporting evidence
Optionally, you can override only the Finding ID, leaving the rest of the content intact.
How to override a finding:
Open the Findings page and select the finding you want to override.
In the right-hand pane, select the finding you'd like to use as the source for the override:
Then:
Choose one of the following options:
Override full finding template – replaces all core data except for evidence or tags.
Override finding ID only – swaps out the ID while preserving the original content:
Click Override to confirm.
This action is audited and recorded in the History tab of the finding.
Wrap-up / Next Steps
Overriding is a quick way to correct or unify finding data, but it replaces nearly everything — so use it carefully. The action is always tracked in the audit log for visibility.
