Overview
This article explains how to activate a Hyver engagement so that assessments can begin. You'll also learn who can perform the activation, what permissions are required, and why reviewing the setup first is important.
Before you activate an engagement, double-check that its configuration is accurate and complete.
Who can activate an engagement?
Administrators and Power Users can activate most engagement types.
Exceptions: Asset Discovery, Internet Perimeter, and Cloud assessments must be activated by the CYE services team.
If you create and activate an engagement, you’re automatically assigned the Administrator role for it. This lets you view the engagement and add findings once it’s active.
Permissions needed to add findings
Only users with the right roles can contribute findings after activation:
Engagement Administrators
Editors with the Findings & Graph Initiator permission
How to activate an engagement
In the left-hand navigation bar, click the Engagements icon to open the Engagement Board.
On the left side, you'll see engagements that are waiting to be activated — they will have an Activate button on their card.
Before activating, it’s a good idea to review the engagement’s configuration. See:
[Displaying Engagement Overview]
[Reviewing or Editing Engagements]
Once you’ve confirmed the setup looks correct, click Activate on the relevant engagement card:
After activation, the engagement’s status updates to Active and the card moves to the right side of the board.
Important notes
Engagements must be activated before any assessments can begin.
CYE starts evaluating the organization’s security/risk based on the defined schedule as soon as the engagement is active.
The time it takes to complete an assessment varies. Larger or more mature organizations with established security may take longer to assess than smaller or less mature ones.
Wrap-up / Next Steps
Activating an engagement is what moves it from setup to action. Once active, you or your team can begin entering findings — and Hyver starts analyzing the organization’s risk.
If you're unsure about anything in the setup, take a moment to review before you activate. It’s worth getting it right.
