Compare your maturity scores with industry averages using benchmarking in Hyver.

Updated over 5 months ago

Overview

Hyver’s benchmarking feature allows you to measure your cybersecurity maturity against other organizations in your industry. This comparison is available at both the organization level and the NIST function level, using data enriched from hundreds of real-world maturity assessments.

What Is Maturity Benchmarking?

Benchmarking helps you understand how your organization’s maturity scores compare to others in your sector. This data is sourced from:

  • Companies using NIST CSF 2.0

  • Translated insights from maturity assessments completed prior to CSF 2.0

  • Data enriched to provide relevant, actionable comparisons

Where Benchmarking Is Available

Organization-Level Benchmarking

  • Shows the average maturity score for companies in your industry sector

  • Useful for high-level comparison and executive reporting

  • Helps set realistic maturity targets and justify resource allocation

Function-Level Benchmarking

  • Displays the average maturity score per NIST function across peer organizations

  • Ideal for identifying which functional areas lag behind or lead within your sector

Setup Tip

To ensure accurate benchmarking:

  • Go to Settings > Company Profile > Sector

  • Confirm that your industry sector is correctly selected

If you're using both CSF 1.1 and CSF 2.0, remember to set and track target maturity levels separately. Benchmarks will differ across frameworks.

Wrap-up / Next Steps

Benchmarking helps turn your internal scores into a broader context. Use it to prioritize improvements, align with industry trends, and track how your organization compares over time.
