What’s New in Hyver – January 2024

Highlights of new Hyver features, including maturity benchmarking, SSO, exposure reduction, and more.

Updated over 5 months ago

Overview

This article walks you through the latest features added to Hyver in January 2024. These updates improve how you assess cybersecurity maturity, quantify risk exposure reduction, streamline login with Microsoft credentials, and access the new Hyver knowledge center. Each update is designed to help you work smarter and communicate security value more clearly.

1. Measure your cybersecurity maturity and benchmark it to your industry (NIST CSF)

Hyver now includes a NIST CSF-based maturity assessment, giving you visibility into your organization’s cybersecurity maturity — and how it compares to others in your industry.

The maturity model is grounded in objective inputs:

  • Implemented security technologies

  • Active findings

  • Manual evaluations of security elements based on NIST CSF subcategories

Hyver’s maturity scoring automatically reflects changes to your environment. When a relevant finding is addressed or a technology is added or removed, associated subcategories are updated — so your maturity assessment stays current.

With this new feature, you can:

  1. Measure cybersecurity maturity across your organization.

  2. Benchmark your maturity score (CSF 1.1) against your industry sector.

  3. Set target scores for your organization and for each NIST function.

  4. Create mitigation plans linked to maturity findings to improve your score.

  5. Track maturity over time, see trends, and report progress to leadership.

To get started:

  • Click the Maturity icon in the left navigation bar.

  • Hyver automatically pulls in data from findings, so your assessment is already partially populated.

  • Use the Risk dashboard for a top-level view of your maturity score and how it evolves.

→ For full instructions, see the Maturity Assessment documentation.

2. Articulate the cyber risk exposure reduction associated with plans

Hyver now makes it easier to demonstrate the value of mitigation in financial terms. With new exposure reduction metrics, you can evaluate which findings and plans deliver the most return on investment (ROI).

Here’s what you can now do:

Quantify risk at the finding level

  • See the current exposure associated with each finding.

  • Understand the projected exposure reduction if the finding is fixed.

  • Compare the cost to fix with the reduction in exposure, making it easier to prioritize.

Quantify risk at the plan level

  • For each mitigation plan, Hyver now shows the total projected exposure reduction.

  • This helps CISOs clearly communicate how planned investments map to reduced risk.

  • You can also compare the required investment against anticipated savings.

Hyver uses built-in calculators and CRQ (Cyber Risk Quantification) to express cyber risk in monetary terms, helping translate technical decisions into business outcomes.

→ For details, see Finding Exposure Quantification.

3. Seamlessly log in to Hyver using Microsoft credentials

With Hyver version 4.30, Single Sign-On (SSO) is now supported using Microsoft credentials. This means:

  • New and existing users can log in using their Microsoft accounts.

  • The login experience is faster, more secure, and easier to manage.

  • No need to manage separate passwords for Hyver.

This enhancement improves onboarding for new team members by:

  • Reducing setup time

  • Ensuring secure, password-protected access

  • Supporting smoother adoption across teams

→ To configure SSO, see Configure SSO.

4. Introducing the Hyver knowledge center

Hyver now includes a built-in knowledge center to help you learn and troubleshoot right from the platform.

Click the question mark icon in the top-right corner of Hyver to open it in your browser.

Inside, you’ll find:

  • Step-by-step guides and explanations of Hyver features

  • Integration documentation for connecting external systems

  • FAQs for common setup and usage questions

  • Release notes for the latest product changes

  • Video tutorials to walk through key features

It’s all designed to help you learn as you go — with practical guidance always a click away.

Important notes

  • Maturity scores and exposure metrics update automatically based on platform activity.

  • Access to SSO setup may require admin permissions.
