Overview

This article explains the key technical, security, and legal facts you should know before connecting the Cye Exposure Management Platform to Workato.

Workato is a third-party platform that lets you automate workflows between the Cye Exposure Management Platform and over 1,000 tools — without writing code. This page outlines considerations and get-started steps involved in connecting with Workato.

1. Workato’s Role in the Cye platform

When you activate Workato integration in the Cye platform, you’re enabling outbound workflows — meaning the Cye platform can send information (like findings, maturity scores, or other triggers) to other tools in your ecosystem.

On top of that, you can enable an inbound workflow to support bidirectional integration with ticketing systems, where a ticket status is changed in Jira, for example, will update the finding status in the Cye platform accordingly.

Examples of what Workato enables when integrated with the Cye platform:

  • Auto-create tickets in Jira or ServiceNow when a high-risk finding is detected

  • Send alerts to Slack or Microsoft Teams when an existing finding status was changed.

  • Update finding with a link to the issue created in Jira.

You can explore these automation options under Settings Integrations and Workflows → Workflow Automations in the Cye platform.

  • Only the Cye platform admins can enable and manage these workflows.

2. Workato Terms and Conditions - Legal Considerations

To use Workato within the Cye platform, your organization must agree to Workato’s Embedded Software Supplemental Terms:
Workato — Connect your apps. Automate your work. | Workato

These T&C is required only once, before starting to use Workato.

Please note:

  • Use of Workato is governed entirely by Workato’s own legal terms. CYE does not modify, control, or assume responsibility for those terms.

  • Each customer is solely responsible for reviewing and ensuring compliance with Workato’s terms before activating the integration.

If your organization has specific legal or compliance needs, we recommend reviewing these terms with your legal counsel before proceeding.

3. Templates as Predefined Recipes

3.1 Available Templates

A curated set of ready-to-use recipe templates is automatically available to every customer once accepting the T&C.

When your organization is onboarded to Workato through the Cye platform, a dedicated project named “the Cye platform Templates” is provisioned in your workspace, containing predefined, production-ready recipes designed for common security operations workflows. These templates are clearly labeled with the “the Cye platform template” tag.

The following templates are provided:

  1. When a finding is created, Send an email

  2. When a finding is created, Create a Jira issue and link it to the Cye platform.

  3. When a critical or high finding is created, create a Jira issue and link it to the Cye platform.

  4. When a Jira issue is updated, Updated the status of related finding in the Cye platform.

  5. When a finding status is changed, send an email.

  6. When ticket creation for a finding is triggered in the Cye platform, create a Jira issue and link it to the Cye platform.

Note:

  • Templates updates are propagated across all customers workspaces to ensure consistency.

  • Deprecated templates are removed to avoid drift

3.1 Best Practices for Using Templates

Workato templates are provided as reference implementations that demonstrate common the Cye platform integration use cases and recommended recipe configurations. Customers should treat templates as starting points, not production-ready workflows.

Recommended Usage Guidelines

  1. Select the Appropriate Template
Choose the template that most closely aligns with your intended use case and business process. Review the trigger conditions, actions, and data flow before proceeding.

  2. Clone the Template Before Use
Always clone the template prior to making any changes or activating it.

Important: Templates may be updated periodically by the CYE product team. Such updates can overwrite existing templates—whether active or inactive—and may disrupt configured workflows. Cloning the template ensures that your customized recipes are preserved and unaffected by future updates.

  3. Configure Required Connectors
Configure and authenticate all required Workato connectors. Ensure that connection credentials, permissions, and environments are correctly aligned.

  4. Activate and Monitor
Once validated, activate the recipe and monitor execution logs to ensure successful runs and to quickly identify any integration issues.

Wrap-up / Next Steps

Connecting to Workato lets you turn the Cye platform findings into immediate action — across your stack. From ticketing to alerts to dashboard updates, this integration is about closing the loop faster, without waiting on manual work or developer time.

Before enabling the connection, you now have everything you need — legally, technically, and operationally.

You’ll find the integration under Settings Integrations and Workflows → Workflow Automations in the Cye platform.
