Incorporating Timeline Dashboard Widgets into Reports

Generate professional, ready-to-share PDF reports that pair visual timeline graphs with detailed data tables, eliminating the need for manual chart construction.

Updated over a month ago

Overview:

Hyver’s timeline widgets for your key topline metrics (Cost of Breach, Maturity, Likelihood, and Exposure) are also available inside the Reports module.

This enables the generation of high‑fidelity PDF reports directly in the platform with the same timeline views as the Root Cause Dashboard, eliminating screenshots, manual chart construction, or external tooling.

What This Feature Enables

When you generate or schedule a report, you can include a timeline view widget that supports all topline metrics. This means:

  • You choose which metric is shown in the timeline.

  • You decide how the timeline is displayed (graph, table, or both).

  • The report includes the time‑based trend for that metric, not just a single number.

The resulting PDF is a high‑fidelity report with:

  • Clear timeline graphs

  • Matching data tables

  • A configuration summary so readers understand what they are seeing

All of this is generated fully inside Hyver’s Reports module.

Configuring the Timeline Widget in a Report

Before generating or scheduling a report, you can configure a single timeline widget with these options:

Metric selection

Choose one metric to visualize in the report’s timeline widget:

  • Exposure

  • Maturity

  • Likelihood

  • Cost of Breach

Timeframe (relative to the date the report is generated)

Select the time window, for example:

    • Last 6 months

    • Last 12 months

    • This year

    • Past year

Granularity of Data

Adjust the granularity to determine the level of detail shown across the timeline:

  • Monthly

  • Quarterly

  • Yearly

Industry comparison toggle (Yes / No)

Turn on or off the industry reference line or values, where available.

Breakdown toggle (Yes / No)

Decide whether to show a breakdown (for example, by business assets or maturity controls) alongside the overall metric.

Display mode (Graph and/or Table)

  • Choose how the widget appears in the PDF:

    • Graph and table

    • Graph only

    • Table only

These settings provide precise control over the scope and depth of the data, while keeping the configuration straightforward.

How the Data Table Renders in the PDF

If you choose a mode that includes a table (Graph and table, or Table only), the report also renders a data table under the widget.

The table shows:

  • Time period (month, quarter, or year, depending on granularity)

  • Metric value for each period.

    • Important: The values are calculated as of the last day of the selected period (e.g., the Maturity value in 2024 is the Maturity value on December 31, 2024)

  • Change vs previous period (for example, increase/decrease since last point)

  • Breakdown values and totals

    • If breakdown is enabled, the table presents values per business asset or maturity control, as well as the total or overall score.

  • Industry reference

    • Where available, the table includes the industry reference values for comparison.

Wrap-up / Next Steps

Enhance your reporting by delivering high-fidelity PDFs that bridge the gap between high-level visual summaries and exact data points for seamless stakeholder analysis.
