Overview
Learn about the enhanced Cye Dashboard—your centralized hub for security intelligence.
Explore the dashboard's structure, core navigation principles, and the strategic purpose of each specialized widget area.
What is the Root Cause Timeline Dashboard?
This Dashboard serves as the "single source of truth" for your organization’s security posture. By unifying insights from across the platform into one real-time interface, it allows you to:
Identify critical risks at a glance.
Track security maturity and improvements over time.
Analyze specific shifts in your risk profile to understand the "why" behind every change.
Dashboard Structure
To help you navigate your security data with ease, the dashboard is organized into four core widgets. These function as the primary pillars of your interface, each meticulously designed to provide a 360-degree view of a specific dimension of your security posture.
Trend Analysis Widget
This widget visualizes how your security posture evolves over time. Mapping data along a historical X-axis allows you to track progress, identify regressions, and measure the long-term impact of remediation efforts. You can toggle this view to analyze trends across any of the four core metrics: Exposure, Maturity, Likelihood, and Cost of Breach.
Breakdown Widget
Allows you to explore your security posture through various organizational dimensions, making it easier to pinpoint exactly where issues originate. You can segment your data by:
Business assets
Maturity functions
Executive Summary Widget (coming soon)
This component provides a high-level synthesis of specific time periods, highlighting key KPI shifts and their primary drivers. It is designed to answer critical strategic questions at a glance, such as:
Why did the Exposure score change in the last quarter?
What were the primary drivers behind the significant improvement in our Maturity score this month?
How did recent remediation milestones directly impact our projected Cost of Breach?
Major Days Widget (coming soon)
A milestone tracker that surfaces important security-related events on the specific days they occurred. This allows you to understand exactly what triggered score changes or posture shifts. Notable events include:
New critical findings detected on a specific date.
Exposure spikes linked to infrastructure changes.
Assessment completions providing new baseline data.
Remediation milestones marking the resolution of key risks.
Common Behavior Across All Widgets
The dashboard provides a unified experience across all four widgets:
Metric Selection
Metric Selection
Global Metric Selection: Selecting a metric at the dashboard level (Exposure, Maturity, Likelihood, or Cost of Breach) updates all four widgets simultaneously to reflect that specific data set.
Individual Widget Toggling: In both the Breakdown Widget and the Major Days Widget, you can also toggle metrics within the widget for deeper analysis. This allows you to "isolate" a single widget to view a different metric without changing the rest of your dashboard view.
Time Selection and Granularity
Time Selection and Granularity
Timeframe Selection
The Date Selection Bar lets you set a custom or predefined date range (e.g., Past 12 Months) for the entire dashboard, ensuring all widgets reflect data from the same period.
Data Granularity
After selecting dates for the shown data, you can set the data frequency—allowing you to view your security posture in three different granularities (data and behavior remain unchanged):
Monthly – fine‑grained view for operational changes and incidents.
Quarterly – aligned with typical program and business review cycles.
Yearly – suited for strategic and board‑level storytelling.
Important: The values are calculated as of the last day of the selected period (e.g., the Maturity value in 2024 is the Maturity value on December 31, 2024; the exposure value in February 2025 is the exposure value on February 28, 2025).
Interactive Time-Sync (The "Click-to-Focus" Feature)
Interactive Time-Sync (The "Click-to-Focus" Feature)
While the Date Selection Bar sets the broad boundaries, you can use the Trend Analysis Widget to investigate specific moments in time.
How it works: Clicking any specific point on the trend line (e.g., the month of August) acts as a master filter for the entire dashboard.
The Result: All other widgets instantly synchronize to show data only for that selected period. This allows you to effortlessly switch from a year-long overview to a deep-dive analysis of a single month.
Core Principles & Navigation
To ensure a seamless experience, the dashboard operates on four key principles:
Interactive Exploration: A clickable data point will lead you directly to deeper context and underlying details.
Live Intelligence: All metrics are powered by live data, providing a real-time reflection of your security posture.
Zero-Configuration Setup: Your widgets reflect your assessment data automatically—no manual setup required.
Contextual Continuity: Your filters (such as date ranges and asset selections) are preserved as you move between views, ensuring a consistent narrative as you explore.
Customizable View
Beyond automatic preservation of filters, the dashboard allows you to save specific configurations. This ensures that your most-used views and custom date ranges are always just one click away:
