Overview
This article explains how to switch between different Cost of Breach (CoB) calculation models in Hyver. CoB estimates the potential financial impact of a cyberattack. Hyver currently supports CoB v1 and CoB v2, depending on when your organization started using the platform.
The version you use affects how CoB values are calculated and displayed in reports and dashboards.
Steps
Go to CoB Settings
Click the Settings icon in the top navigation bar, then select Cost of Breach.Click Edit
In the settings screen, click Edit to open the version selection:Choose the version
Select the CoB version you want to use:CoB v2 (default for newer customers) β uses maturity scores from multiple NIST subcategories for higher accuracy.
CoB v1 (available to older customers) β based on a questionnaire model.
Save changes
Once saved, Hyver will immediately apply the new calculation method across the platform.Optional: Use dashboard shortcut
If you're still using CoB v1, a banner will appear on the Risk Dashboard. Click More information to jump directly to the Cost of Breach Settings screen:
Impact of switching versions
CoB calculations are updated immediately after switching.
The Mitigation Success Trends widget will also be recalculated:
If you switch to CoB v2, Hyver recalculates historical CoB values starting from either the introduction of v2 or from 12 months ago β whichever is more recent.
If you revert to CoB v1, the graph shows data from the earliest CoB calculation available or 12 months ago, whichever is more recent.
TIP: Improve the accuracy of CoB by making sure all relevant data is filled in.
Important notes
New customers who joined after CoB v2 was released cannot switch to v1.
Customers who started on CoB v1 can switch back and forth between versions if needed.
Wrap-up / Next Steps
Choosing the right CoB version helps ensure your risk and financial impact data is as accurate as possible. If you're using CoB v1 and have the option, switching to v2 gives you a more nuanced, maturity-based view of potential breach costs.
