Session timeouts in Hyver

How session timeouts work in Hyver for login and two-factor authentication.

Updated over 5 months ago

Overview

This article explains how session timeouts affect your Hyver login and two-factor authentication (2FA). It covers how long login tokens last, when 2FA tokens expire, and what happens when you close your browser.

Login session timeout

  • When you log in to Hyver, you can select Remember me to stay logged in.

  • If selected, your login session stays active for 30 days, unless you manually log out.

2FA session timeout

  • Your 2FA token renews every 15 minutes, and remains valid as long as you're active during a two-hour window.

  • If you're inactive for more than two hours, you'll be prompted to re-authenticate using your 2FA code.

What happens when you close your browser?

  • Closing your browser or tab ends your current 2FA session — even if you were active.

  • The next time you open Hyver, you'll be asked to generate a new 2FA code using your authenticator app.

Important notes

  • Login and 2FA tokens work independently — you can still be logged in while needing to re-enter your 2FA code.

  • Selecting Remember me only affects your login token, not 2FA.

Wrap-up / Next Steps

Session timeouts help keep your account secure without adding friction when you're actively working. If you find yourself being logged out too often, check whether your browser or tab is closing — or ask your admin about adjusting session settings.
