Searching for Specific Assets

Search by name, version, or attributes to locate relevant assets in Cye platform.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Overview

This article shows you how to search for specific assets using the search bar and filters. This is especially helpful when you need to check if your organization is using a product affected by a newly disclosed vulnerability — even before it’s flagged as a finding.

1. Open the Assets page

Click the Operations->Assets icon in the left pane:

This opens the full list of assets discovered during your current engagement.

2. Use the search bar

At the top of the page, use the Search box to find assets by typing any part of an asset’s detail — like a product name, version, or keyword:

  • Example: To check for exposure to a new OpenSSL vulnerability, type OpenSSL and press Enter:

  • You can also search by version — like 1.0.2 — to find all assets using that version, regardless of product:

  • For more precise matching, use the exact formatting shown , e.g., OpenSSL:1.0.2.

3. Check asset details

Click any asset from the search results to view its full information in the right-hand pane:

Look for the relevant version number or attribute to verify if it matches the vulnerability you’re concerned about.

4. Search tips

  • Cye platform often uses colons (:) to separate product and version info, e.g., Jenkins:2.361.1.

  • If unsure about the exact format, open a known example or check the Asset Details pane to confirm how the platform displays it.

  • Still stuck? You can always reach out to the Cye service team for help.

5. Use filters for attribute-based search

In addition to free-text search, you can also:

  • Apply filters by asset type, domain, or other key attributes.

  • Use the Sources filter to display assets discovered by Cye platform or by specific integrations (e.g., Qualys, Tenable).

This can help narrow your view when working across a large asset inventory.

Important notes

  • If you find assets that may be exposed but aren't yet linked to a finding, you can manually add them as remediation assets to a relevant finding.

  • Search results are scoped to your current engagement.

  • All users can view all assets by design — asset visibility is shared across the platform to support consistent analysis and collaboration.

Wrap-up / Next Steps

Quick searches help you stay ahead of emerging threats — especially when news breaks before findings are updated. Combine search and filters for fast, focused results, and don’t hesitate to double-check formatting in the asset details pane.
