Import Assets (CSV)

Upload assets into Hyver using a CSV file and custom field mapping.

Updated over 5 months ago

Overview

This article walks you through importing assets into Hyver using a CSV file. You'll learn how to use the import wizard, map CSV fields to Hyver fields, and optionally save a column mapping template for future use. This method is ideal for bringing in technical assets (like IPs, domains, certificates) from external systems.

1. Prepare your CSV file

Before importing, make sure your file meets these requirements:

  • Single asset type only (e.g., Domains, IPs, Certificates)

  • Under 10 MB

  • CSV format with comma delimiters

  • Import applies to technical assets, not business assets (e.g., not customer data or user info)

📌 Using a CSV template is optional, but recommended for smoother mapping.

2. Start the import

  1. Click the Assets icon in the left navigation pane.

  2. Click Import assets at the top center:

  3. Select Import assets (CSV) to launch the import wizard:

3. Set up your import

  1. Choose the Engagement where the assets will be added (only one can be selected):

  2. Select the Asset type (e.g., Certificate, IP, Domain, etc.):

  3. (Optional) Click the CSV template link to download a template and review required columns (marked "Mandatory"):

4. Upload your file

  • Drag and drop your CSV file into the center of the window, or click Select the file to upload it.

  • If your CSV file includes column headers in the first row, toggle First row of the CSV file is headers to the right.

5. Map CSV fields to Hyver fields

If you've saved a previous mapping template:

  • Toggle Load saved column mapping template, then choose a template from the dropdown.

If not:

  1. Click Next to open the mapping interface:

  1. In the CSV columns area, you'll see your file’s fields.

  2. In the Hyver fields area, required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*):

Now:

  1. Drag each relevant CSV field onto a matching Hyver field.

    • For example, drag Domain onto Hyver’s Domain field.

    • Mapped fields will be highlighted in green.

  2. To remove a mapping, click the trash can icon next to that field.

💡 Not all fields must be mapped, but you must complete all required ones (marked with *).

6. Import the assets

  • Once mappings are complete, click Import # assets at the bottom.

  • Hyver will validate your data and display a success message if the import goes smoothly:

  • If there are validation errors, you'll get a link to a log file with the exact issues (e.g., missing columns, invalid data, or duplicates). Fix the file and re-import if needed.

  • To unmap a field, click the trash can icon of the relevant box in the Hyver fields area:

7. (Optional) Save your mapping as a template

Click Save column mapping as template, enter a name, and click Save — this makes future imports faster.

8. Review your imported assets

Click View imported assets to go directly to your new assets in the list.
You’ll see your name under the Created by column for each imported asset.

You can filter this view by:

  • Entering Hyver in the Created by field to see all Hyver-detected assets

  • Entering your name to view only the ones you imported

Important notes

  • Assets imported through this method appear just like auto-discovered assets — they can be tagged, edited, and assigned to findings.

  • If you import a duplicate asset, Hyver will notify you during validation.

Wrap-up / Next Steps

Importing assets by CSV helps integrate external data quickly and cleanly. Once imported, these assets are fully part of the platform — ready to be filtered, assessed, and managed like everything else.
