Set up and manage notifications in Hyver

How to define, edit, and test email notifications based on findings and remediation events.

Updated over 5 months ago

Overview

Hyver’s notification system keeps your team informed by sending updates about key activities—like new findings or remediation assets. You can customize notifications by entity, event, severity, and recipients.

This article walks you through how to create, edit, and test notification rules.

Steps

  1. Open Notifications
Click your user icon in the top right corner and go to Settings > Notifications:

  2. View or manage existing notifications

    • Use the Edit button to update a rule.

    • Click Delete to remove a notification.

    • Click Send Test E-mail to make sure the recipient can receive notifications.

    • Use the Settings button to choose whether email content includes finding names and remediation asset names.

    • The Last Sent column shows the last time an email (excluding test emails) was triggered for each rule.

  3. Create a new notification
Click + New Notification to launch a three-step setup wizard:

Step 1: Entity & Event

  • Notification name – Enter a name for the rule (free text).

  • Entity – Choose the type of item that triggers the alert (e.g., Finding, Remediation asset).

  • Event – Choose the event that should trigger the notification (e.g., Finding created, Status changed).
    Click Next.

Step 2: Conditions (Optional)

Define filters to reduce unnecessary alerts:

  • Finding severity – Choose which severity level triggers the notification (e.g., Critical, High, etc.). If set to None, all severities will trigger the alert.

  • Security domain – Narrow the scope by selecting a specific domain (e.g., Finance or IT).
    Click Next.

Step 3: Recipients & Channel

  • Notification type – Select how notifications will be sent:

    • Email (default)

    • Jira

    • ServiceNow

  • Recipients – Use the Search user/group name or email dropdown to choose who should receive the notification.
    Click Next.

Final Step: Review & Confirm

  • Review your selections on the summary screen:

  • Click Done to save the notification rule.

After setup, you can use Send Test E-mail to verify that recipients get the message as expected.

Important notes

  • Each notification is tied to a specific entity-action combination.

  • Too many unfiltered notifications can lead to alert fatigue — we recommend using conditions to limit this.

  • The emails include direct links to the relevant entities in Hyver (e.g., to a specific finding).

Wrap-up / Next Steps

Custom notifications help keep the right people in the loop without overwhelming them. Start simple, refine based on feedback, and use test emails to ensure delivery.
